Media Prima engages union groups to ensure 'transparent process' amidst restructure

Media Prima will work closely with union officers?on the execution of the business transformation plan, to ensure the?process is transparent and all obligations to affected employees are given the utmost priority.
The unions are?National Union of Journalists NSTP Branch, National Union of Newspaper Workers NSTP Branch, Kesatuan Sekerja Kakitangan Sistem Televisyen Malaysia, and Kesatuan Eksekutif Sistem Televisyen Malaysia. According to Media Prima, all parties have reached an?understanding that a fair and equitable compensation governed by the law and the respective union Collective Agreements will be adhered to.
Last week, the company announced that it is??embarking on the next phase of its business transformation exercise? which is expected to conclude by the first quarter of 2020. It said in an earlier statement that it will ensure all affected?employees will receive a fair and equitable compensation package governed by the law, and respective union requirements which will be? paid in full upon the fulfilment of all legal requirements.
As part of the change, Media Prima will change its overall business model and restructure internally. With this it hopes ?to enable the group to be? future proofed and sustainable? given the uncertain macroeconomic conditions and disruptive changes in the global and local media sector. In addition to a?fair and equitable compensation,?offering support to employees which includes job outplacement services and career counselling.
