McDonald's MY says 'bone-voyage' to Tulang

Mcdonald's Malaysia is bidding farewell to its Tulang (bone) in a rather unusual manner. In an Instagram post on last Sunday (23 March), the fast-food chain unveiled Tulang's resignation notice from its position at McDonald's.

"After serving Malaysians for so long, it is time for me to retire from the kitchen. Thank you for all the trust in me as a krup krup (crunch sound) legacy," the notice read. Tulang also wished McDonald's continued success in spreading spicy, crunchy and crispy joy to all Malaysians.

A day after the puzzling resignation notice, McDonald's released a short clip of various staff members sharing their thoughts on Tulang's departure. "That's so sad. We'll definitely miss Tulang after he leaves right? Because, Tulang has been my favourite since long ago, you know," one man said.

Another employee said, "Tulang, why did you resign? Whatever it is, good luck. Don't be too sad." The food chain also prompted customers to "stick around" to see who will be joining McDonald's.

Following Tulang's resignation, Johor's food chain Ahmad's Fried Chicken shared a humorous response on Facebook, stating that have accepted the former McDonald's "employee's" application at its restaurant.

In the job application, Tulang said that it is enthusiastic about applying for the position, and felt it was time to take its experience to a new, more bite-sized establishment.

"I believe with trust, I am able to contribute to ensuring that every bite is crunchy, spicy and satisfying," Tulang added.

Tulang's resignation follows McDonald's Malaysia's recent Indahnya Ramadan” ad, which follows four characters through their Ramadan experience. Paired with the closing title “Syukur nikmati Ramadan sekali lagi”(grateful to be able to enjoy Ramadan again), it reminds everyone to enjoy the little moments in the day throughout Ramadan.

“This year's 'Indahnya Ramadan' campaign centers around the theme of gratitude, or kesyukuran. The film aims to capture the essence of Ramadan, highlighting the cherished moments that Muslims look forward to each year. It celebrates the simple yet meaningful experiences of each day, filled with profound thankfulness for those observing the holy month,” said Azman Mohammad, senior brand director, McDonald’s Malaysia.
