FC Barcelona renews partnership with Maybank

Football club FC Barcelona and Maybank are extending their partnership deal until 2027. The financial entity will continue to be FC Barcelona's official bank in Malaysia and Singapore. 

The renewed partnership solidifies the football club's presence in the Asian market while Maybank gets to leverage the club's reach to expand its brand presence. 

“We are proud to extend the collaboration between FC Barcelona and Maybank to provide new services and Barça experiences for our fans in Malaysia and Singapore as Barça's official bank in both markets," said Juli Guiu, vice-president of FC Barcelona marketing area.

"Asia is a strategic region for the club's expansion with hundreds of thousands of passionate fans eager for new and innovative ways to have closer relationships with us. Maybank's initiatives are a perfect fit for all of them. We look forward to continuing working together in this extended relationship," added Guiu. 

Through this partnership, Maybank will continue to market its Maybank FC Barcelona cards in Malaysia and Singapore and offer exclusive campaigns to its customers. 

The campaigns often include challenges, and prize draws that have enabled several clients to travel to Barcelona and meet the football legends. 

Following the renewed deal, Maybank will be launching a campaign offering Malaysian FC Barcelona fans a chance to win an exclusive experience in Barcelona. The campaign will run from now until 15 September. 

"Over the past years, we have launched numerous marketing campaigns, activations, and exclusive deals that resonated deeply with Malaysian and Singaporean fans. This renewed partnership promises to bring even more innovative and engaging initiatives that will delight fans and strengthen our bond with one of the world’s most iconic football clubs," said Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, group CEO, community financial services, Maybank. 

"FC Barcelona holds a special place in the hearts of football enthusiasts in Malaysia and Singapore, and our collaboration with the club underscores our dedication to enhancing our customer-centric experiences. As one of the top football clubs in these regions, FC Barcelona's popularity provides a unique platform for us to connect with our customers in meaningful ways. We look forward to another three years of shared success and unforgettable football moments," added Syed. 

Maybank and FC Barcelona first inked their partnership in 2017, with the launch of the FC Barcelona cards in Malaysia. 

The card offered lifestyle rewards to cardholders such as a free for life annual fee, 2% cashback on retail spend all year round for 10 months capped at RM50 a month and more. 

The bank is anticipated to issue 15,000 new co-branded cards in the first year of launch and hopes to expand its partnership to other regional markets, it said.
