Creative agency Mash has revealed that it will be making multiple changes to its leadership team as the company restructures with a decentralised approach to fuel its growth across the APAC region.
Through the restructure, Mash’s remote working model will allow for a spread of leadership across six cities while facilitating engagement and better cultural understanding with local markets, according to a statement by the company.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have a leadership team of this calibre as we propel our growth across Asia-Pacific and embark on the journey of scaling through a new technology platform,’ said Tash Menon, CEO and co-founder of Mash.
“Although we have a different operating model which requires some unlearning from everyone, we are first and foremost a cultural practice and Damien, Rich and Amy have been integral to our business success to date,” Menon continued.

Mash’s new leadership team will see its general manager of two years, Damien Miller, promoted to the newly created position of client partnerships and culture director.
In his new role, Miller will further develop Mash's inherent remote-working culture, amplify its client partnerships team, and fuel the company's expansion across new territories.
"The past two years at Mash have been transformative, with Menon and team empowering us to create groundbreaking, culturally intuitive campaigns for our clients, and help raise the quality of work for creatives around the world,” added Miller.
The changes in leadership also include newly appointed Asia creative partnerships director, Rich Akers. Based in Thailand, Akers will work on fostering an intricate understanding of cultural subtleties in diverse Asian countries and expand Mash’s services across the region.
“As we grow as a company, I believe Mash has an amazing opportunity to capitalise on our momentum in Asia and solidify our reputation as the region’s go-to for bespoke creative solutions, with Singapore, India and Japan being of particular focus for us," Akers said.
Akers first joined Mash in 2021 as a freelance creative project manager before being promoted to the Asia project lead in October 2021, a position he held till being the Asia creative partnerships director.
Taking on the role of ANZ creative partnerships director is Amy Williams who was part of Mash’s founding team in 2018. Williams’s new role will focus on project delivery and partnerships across Australia and New Zealand.
"Over the past five years I've personally experienced and witnessed Mash empowering creatives to do their best work,” said Williams.
“As we evolve and scale, I am excited to step into this new role to continue connecting forward-thinking organisations with these brilliant creatives, and make relevant and impactful work together,” she added.
News of a leadership restructure comes in the wake of Mash having secured AUD$2 million in pre-series A funding round to add new technology to its infrastructure platform to support team curation, collaboration and remote work.
