As we step into 2024, marketers can expect to witness transformation across multiple industries, each of which pose distinct challenges and opportunities in the recruitment landscape.

In the tech sector, a recovering landscape signals positive signs, urging innovative partnerships, value-centric approaches to recruitment, as well as adaptability and client-oriented solutions, according to MCGTalent's APAC recruitment market guide for 2024.

As AI takes on a more prominent role in operations and product management, data quality, governance and microservices architecture has also become more critical. Technical expertise, critical thinking and problem-solving will likely now be amplified by soft skills.

Seeing how creative agencies are shifting towards dedicated teams, meaningful leadership and strategic thinking have emerged as sought-after attributes for professionals. Meanwhile, research-based decision-making is gaining momentum in the PR industry, reshaping talent demands.

While the media eCommerce sector foresees growth, increased cost of living has impacted recruiting, citing candidates' salary expectations, according to the guide.

In addition, job seekers are prioritising career growth amidst these challenges and opportunities. Job seekers are aligning with opportunities that offer personal development and flexibility while companies are seeking alternative approaches when considering junior roles.

Unfortunately, due to the tech layoffs and restructuring in anticipation of 2024, there will be a surge in senior-level talent in the market. That said, a lot more roles could open up in Q1 with new hiring budgets released, it said.

All in all, 2024 demands adaptability, strategic foresight and a keen understanding of market dynamics. Companies must recalibrate strategies to attract and retain top talent, while professionals must showcase strategic skills, readiness and adaptability when pursuing career progression.

That said, MCGTalent has provided a snapshot of what you should be earning in 2024 in the marketing and communications industry in Singapore below.
