Malaysian marketers, here is your 2023 salary guide

The economic volatility caused by the pandemic did not stop Malaysians from taking a chance with new job opportunities as seen in a new salary guide. 45% of respondents in Malaysia have not worked in their current roles for more than two years and a much larger fraction of the respondents, 82% to be exact, across every age group, industry, market and seniority level, plan to look for new career prospects.
Nonetheless, salary remains the top motivator that influences candidates' decisions on where to work, according to Page Executive and Page Insights' new 2023 salary guide.
Consequently, the survey highlighted that companies should consider reviewing salaries and developing non-monetary strategies to improve talent retention, considering the overall year-on-year inflation rate at 5%.
With the Malaysian budget creeping up in a few days, employers and employees alike will gain a broader perspective on the country's financial trajectory. However, it was recently revealed that Malaysia's GDP performed better than expected, based on its fourth quarter results. Perhaps this could be positive for employers moving forward.
