Malaysia and Indonesia to strengthen ties, said PM Anwar

Malaysia-Indonesia relations must be strengthened, said Malaysia prime minister Anwar Ibrahim.
In a recent Facebook post, Anwar expressed confidence that the inauguration of Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto will further enhance collaboration between the two nations.
In the post, Anwar said that Malaysia will continue to be Indonesia's strategic partner and that Prabowo, with his long journey in politics, will help foster harmony and elevate the stature of the region to greater heights.

The prime minister was among several world leaders who attended the inauguration ceremony of the eighth Indonesian president in Jakarta.
He described it as a meaningful and important ceremony in the Indonesia's history of democracy and political development.
As he wraps up his Jakarta trip, Anwar said that the prays for Prabowo's strength and lasting health in leading the country and the people of Indonesia towards prosperity.
Stronger Malaysia-Indonesia ties were hinted at when Prabowo visited Malaysia last month. Following which, Anwar revealed that he and Prabowo talked about a few matters of mutual interest during the visit.
"Met my good friend, Prabowo Subianto just now. We talked about few matters of mutual interest, most importantly our commitment to strengthen the bilateral relationships between two brotherly countries," said Anwar.
"We also emphasised our commitment to guarantee and strengthen ASEAN regional cooperation," he added.
The prime minister went on to say that he is honored to receive the invitation to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony to be held on 20 October 2024.
