In conjunction with the upcoming National Day celebrations, Malaysia Airlines has collaborated with Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur to create a curated menu that aims to celebrate Malaysia’s diverse culture and cuisine.

The menu will exclusively be available at all the airline’s Golden Lounges at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Terminal 1 which features authentic Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines. The campaign will also run from 30 August to 1 September 2023 and from 15 to 17 September 2023.

“With this collaboration, the chefs of Mandarin Oriental will share their expertise to bring the best of cuisine to KLIA, resulting in exceptional dishes that can elevate the dining experience of customers in the Golden Lounge,” said the brand in a statement.

Entrees and main course items on the curated menu include traditional green mango salad roast chicken in tomato masala and wok-fried udon noodles. Guests will then be treated to a chilled mango puree with vanilla ice cream, sago, and pomelo to complete their meal.

Individuals who will have access to the menu include passengers and frequent flyer members travelling Business Class, Enrich Platinum, oneworld First Class, and oneworld Emerald to name a few.

Economy Class passengers may also purchase their access to the Golden Lounge through the Journify mobile app or website.

The airline has also been developing its sustainability efforts and recently launched a voluntary carbon offset programme. The programme will help individuals and corporate customers calculate, understand, and offset the carbon emissions associated with the flights by supporting verified carbon offsetting projects when booking flights through the airline’s website.

The carbon offset programme was implemented in collaboration with CHOOOSE, a climate tech company headquartered in Norway with partnerships around the world. This, according to Malaysia Airlines in a statement, marks a milestone in Malaysia Aviation Group’s (MAG) commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, as outlined its sustainability blueprint.
