Singaporean womenswear fashion brand Love, Bonito's VP of brand, Vanessa Yeo Barger (pictured) has exited the role after just under four years at the company, as confirmed to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE by Barger. She will now be joining eyewear company Lenskart as its general manager of marketing as of September.

In her new role, Barger will cover branding, campaigns, social media and communications as she helps to drive brand awareness and growth. She will report to Peyush Bansal, the co-founder and chief executive and people officer at Lenskart.

"Starting a new exciting era in my career with Lenskart's mission, vision, quality products and transformational-thinking around eyewear was an opportunity I could not pass up," said Barger. " I don't consider myself having left Love, Bonito after almost four years, but entering my new role as their full-time customer," she said.

For now, Barger will be focused on Singapore and will work on expanding into other markets in the region in due course.

Barger joins the company with a wealth of experience in the marketing space. She previously was with Love, Bonito which she joined in 2019 as its head of brand marketing. She was elevated to VP of brand in 2020, a role she has held till now.

While she was there, Love, Bonito saw significant growth. In fact, earlier this year, Love, Bonito, opened its first pop-up store outside of Asia in New York City as it looked to serve underrepresented Asian-American women and further its plans for global expansion.

Currently, the brand has 20 physical stores across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Hong Kong with an online store that ships to 20 markets internationally which includes the United States of America.

Its success did not come without hard work though and Barger saw the company through incredible campaigns such as when it partnered with Klook, an Asian travel and experiences platform, to create an outdoor movie experience with Cinewav. The events were spread across the month of February earlier this year and concluded in the first week of March.

Prior to that, Barger was a brand and social media consultant at BASE Athletica, a role she held for just under 3 years. She joined the company from fitness wear brand lululemon where she was its brand and community manager.

Barger has also held marketing-related roles in companies such as lingerie brand Triumph International and the Estee Lauder group of companies.
