Singapore Armed Forces opens mart on Lazada

Lazada Singapore has signed a deal with the Combat Service Support Command (CSSCOM) of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to offer some products for purchase on Lazada’s eCommerce platform.

The Lifestylemart store on Lazada will initially offer items such as towels, running shoes and attire as part of a pilot launch. During the pilot, the assortment can be bought using Lazada’s payment solutions, and delivered to customers via Lazada’s network of delivery partners.

Meanwhile, the eMart is a kit replacement system for full-time national servicemen (NSFs) and operationally ready national servicemen (NSmen). Physical outlets can be found in selected SAF camps and two commercially-accessible retail shops in Singapore.

The launch of the Lifestylemart store on Lazada is expected to benefit all National Servicemen, who will be able to shop at their convenience and have the items delivered to their doorsteps.  According to the deal inked, Lazada and Combat Service Support Command will open up opportunities for exchanges and cross-learning in the areas of eCommerce expertise, supply chain management strategies and sustainability initiatives, enabling public and private sector cross-sharing of ideas and lessons to further improve existing systems and practices.

"CSSCOM is proud to work with Lazada to bring greater convenience to national servicemen, who can replace selected personal equipment or purchase items for yearly In-Camp Training (ICT) on Lazada's platform,” Commander CSSCOM, brigadier general (BG) Terry Tan Koon Woo said. He added that the partnership offers an opportunity to learn from commercial and industry best practices which can be ploughed back to enhance CSSCOM's peacetime and operational effectiveness.

“Moving ahead, we will continue to explore more collaborations with other eCommerce partners to offer greater purchasing flexibility to our national servicemen,” Woo said.

“National Service is an integral part of serving our nation. Our national servicemen contribute precious time for their training to keep Singapore safe and sovereign. Like how we have diversified our offerings to cater to the needs of local communities and businesses, we are proud to empower the Singapore army to give back to servicemen with a positive NS experience, and enjoy the perks of the Lazada platform,” Loh Wee Lee, CEO of Lazada Singapore, added.
