Laura Kantor joins sustainability super app in newly created marketing VP role
share on
According to abillion, Kantor (pictured) joins at an exciting time as the app, which is available in 173 countries, recently launched its own sustainability marketplace to offer conscious consumers a marketplace to help them make more sustainable choices. The app also announced over US$2 million in donations to a coalition of non-profit partners earlier this year.
Kantor was most recently with foodpanda for six years, last helming the role of marketing and sustainability director. She joined the company in 2016 as head of marketing and expanded her remit over the years. During her time at foodpanda, abillion said in the press statement that Kantor grew the business by over 100x, launched six business units and grew the marketing team from three to 32 professionals.
"I’m so excited to join Garg and his incredible team at abillion and be part of such an exciting movement to mobilise communities to get together to save the world," she added.
Meanwhile, Garg said “Laura is joining at a pivotal time for our growth, as we work to expand our ecosystem and impact. We’re delighted to welcome Laura to the team!”.
Abillion said on its corporate website that through technology, it is connecting and helping people live, shop, and eat more sustainably. It also wants to shape a world guided by compassion, social responsibility, and sustainability. To give back to impactful causes, abillion members need to review a vegan dish they have eaten or a vegan and sustainable product they have purchased. Every review raises US$1 for impact, according to the company.
Consumers can either support a cause they believe in or invest in the abillion community equity programme, which allows users to invest their donation credits into the company. In the eventuality of an IPO, users will receive share equity equal to the amount they have invested. Among the list of non-profit partners working with abillion include ACRES in Singapore, Animal Liberation Victoria in Australia, Farm Sanctury in the US, Jakarta Animal Aid Network, and Viva! in the UK.
Garg explained that the team's goal is to become the world’s most impactful ecosystem for sustainability, helping consumers and entrepreneurs make choosing sustainably second nature for everyone. "Whether you're buying or selling on abillion’s marketplace, every transaction creates impact, saving lives, feeding the hungry and preserving nature. It’s a completely new blueprint for eCommerce, one that will allow all of us to eat, shop and live our way to a brighter future," he added.
