Kuningan City invites Jakarta to slow down with 'Break Time' campaign

In a city that rarely slows down, Kuningan City Mall is daring to do just that—by pressing pause. This May, the Jakarta-based mall is launching "Break Time," a month-long experiential campaign designed to offer young audiences and communities a space to unplug, recharge, and reconnect through an energising blend of physical and creative activities. The initiative aims to transform everyday mall visits into moments of mindful indulgence.

"Break Time represents our commitment to creating a space that supports a healthy and balanced lifestyle. It offers an opportunity for people to pause, enjoy a moment for themselves, or spend quality time with their families," said Christopher Hardja, centre director of Kuningan City Mall, as quoted by Tempo.

Beyond a seasonal activation, Break Time positions the mall as a lifestyle destination—one that aligns with the emotional and wellness needs of urban dwellers. From high-octane workouts to soul-soothing art workshops, the programme aims to blend community, creativity, and commerce.

The calendar is packed with curated events that speak to various interests and life stages. Fitness buffs can kick off their May with the Hyrox Competition on 3 May—a high-intensity workout collaboration with Celebrity Fitness that tests endurance and grit.

Pop culture lovers are in for a treat with the K-Wonderland Art Market (10 May), which blends K-pop merchandise, talkshows, and noraebang (karaoke) sessions for an immersive fandom experience.

Creative souls can channel their inner artist through hands-on workshops: Spirited Away Terrarium (10 May), Selekta's Painting Day (17 May), Painting Therapy with Canvasso Art (23–24 May), Florist Class Therapy (30 May), and Cake Decoration Class (31 May).

Families haven't been left out either. The Creative Coloring Contest on 31 May—held in collaboration with Youreka—invites children to unleash their imagination in a fun, family-friendly environment.

To deepen customer engagement, Break Time is backed by a series of loyalty programmes that sweeten the shopping experience. From 11 to 15 May, Lucky 13 rewards shoppers who spend IDR 100,000 with a shopping voucher of equal value. On Sundays throughout the month, Sunday Treats offers exclusive coupons to the first 150 visitors. Meanwhile, Beauty Treats, running from 19 to 23 May, gives shoppers spending IDR 200,000 access to a IDR 100,000 voucher redeemable at selected beauty and wellness tenants.

For brands seeking to resonate with young, urban audiences, the message is clear: rest is not the absence of productivity—it's the foundation of it. Kuningan City Mall, located in Jakarta's upscale Kuningan district, is a key part of the city's Golden Triangle superblock in Setiabudi. This mixed-use development combines shopping, dining, and high-quality accommodations.

This isn't Kuningan City Mall's first Break Time event; last year, it featured a concert by Betrand Peto and Mario Ginanjar, along with stress-relieving art workshops such as tufting and painting.
