JBL Quantum elevates gaming for the visually impaired

Audio brand JBL is releasing JBL Quantum Guide Play, a software that aims to make first-person shooter games (FPS) more inclusive.
The software leverages JBL's audio technology and is part of parent company HARMAN's commitment to bringing diverse individuals and ideas together. It also supports the visually impaired players within the gaming community by offering access to gaming experiences.

In addition, the software leverages advanced AI and machine learning algorithms to transform in-game objects and structures into auditory cues. This enables visually impaired players to perceive their virtual environment through sound, according to the statement.
"We recognise the immense potential of gaming to bring people together and provide immersive experiences for players of all abilities," said Grace Koh, vice president and general manager, consumer audio, Harman Asia Pacific.
"Through 'JBL Quantum Guide Play', we are creating a platform that enriches the gaming experience for everyone, transcending limitations and building a more inclusive gaming community."
Despite the popularity of FPS games, accessibility for the visually impaired community remains a significant challenge. As such, the tool uses JBL Quantum's advanced head tracking and spatial audio technology to emulate echolocation.
“I believe gaming is now a real possibility for me,.” said Sophie Soon, paralympic athlete and visually impaired gamer.
The initiative was created in collaboration with BLKJ Havas, who was handed the brand's global ad duties in November 2022.
The agency aimed at delivering a global and fully integrated solution that would bring together brand strategy, creative, content, media and production as well as selective support in social media and influencer marketing.
Havas´ mandate especially includes bringing the JBL brand to the next level of consumer activation.
One of BLKJ Havas' campaigns for JBL was its 'Rap your gift' audio gifting portal in light of Earth Day. The initiative was created in support of the global sustainability initiative to reduce the use of gift wrapping paper and to raise awareness around wrapping paper waste and encourage more sustainable gift giving, especially amongst younger individuals.
