Global IT company, Infosys has named Rafael Nadal (pictured left) as its newest brand ambassador. The partnership between the two is slated to last three years, said Infosys in a statement.
According to the company, Nadal is the perfect embodiment of what the company stands for, and for what it takes for individuals and business leaders to evolve.
As the digital innovation partner for various tennis tournaments such as the Australian Open and ATP Tour, Infosys stated that it aims to reimagine the tennis ecosystem for fans. It plans to do so by leveraging AI, cloud, data analytics and digital experiences. The way Infosys has done so, according to a statement by the company, is by using video and stats analysis platforms to revolutionise training. It has also bolstered match analysis with AI-assisted journalism platforms for broadcasters to post engaging content, as well as introduced new ways for fans to engage with the game.

Nadal said that he is happy to work closely with Infosys, as the company has aided in evolving the experience of tennis to the times while empowering people in communities to be a part of a brighter future.
“I love the way Infosys has brought its digital expertise across industries to the global tennis ecosystem. It has transformed the tennis experience for a billion global fans and truly empowered all players on the tour with analytics that they could have only dreamt of a few years ago,” he said.
The tennis star added that Infosys’ contribution beyond the court, which includes creating opportunities people, businesses and communities, has deeply inspired him. “I believe it’s our shared aspiration to create societal good that makes our handshake truly meaningful,” he added.
To mark Nadal’s first-ever collaboration with the company, Infosys has joined hands with his coaching team to develop an AI-powered match analysis tool. Infosys said that the personalised tool will be available in real time to Nadal’s coaching team to simultaneously track insights from his live matches when he is back on tour, along with historical data from his earlier matches.
Salil Parekh, the CEO and managing director of Infosys, said, “It is an honour to welcome Nadal – one of the world’s most respected champion athletes and humanitarians – as an ambassador for Infosys. He is someone who personifies the spirit of always evolving, never giving up, utmost dedication and determination to give the very best in every situation. We are inspired by his approach, and it reflects our own aspirations to continuously evolve and always remain relevant for our clients."
Infosys is one of many brands that Nadal’s name has been attached to. Another such brand is KIA Motors, a brand he initially joined in 2004 and became a global ambassador for in 2006. The chief operating officer for Kia Motors, Europe, Emilio Herrera said that Nadal and the brand developed a partnership based on passion, hard work and the principle of overcoming. Nadal and Kia will also be celebrating 24 years since the partnership started this year.
A statement by the company said that Nadal has featured in a series of Kia campaigns over the years and that he has proven himself an undisputed champion for Kia throughout. "Instrumental in generating greater levels of confidence in and awareness of the Kia brand in the European market, his presence has also contributed to making Kia one of the most recognised and desirable brands globally," it said in 2019 when the brand was celebrating Nadal’s 20-year anniversary with it.
