Introducing Marketing's new podcast channel titled 'Connected'

Podcasting has ridden its fair share of ups and downs. Being around since as early as 2004, it only felt the warmth of the limelight around 2015, when it suddenly became the "it" word on everybody’s lips.

Now in 2020, with many of us stuck at home, with the same Britney song on repeat (oops did I say that again?), professionals everywhere are craving content that not just entertains, but also enriches their lives. Noticing this trend, we at the Marketing Magazine Group decided that this was the perfect time for us to venture beyond our comfort zone, and take on a new medium.

With that, we’d like to introduce you to Marketing’s very own “Connected” podcast series. The first series under Connected is titled “Survival Instincts” where we interview a range of inspiring individuals from different walks of life. We ask them how they are hunting for talent, ways they feel COVID-19 will reshape the industry, their tips to sustain mental health and well being, and of course, how they can win the coveted gold trophies at the various Marketing awards.

To be completely honest, while the slowdown of live events has finally given us the opportunity to launch the new platform, podcasts have been on our radar for a while now. Even before the whole pandemic took over, in December last year, Deloitte predicted that in 2020 the global podcasting market is set to increase by 30% to reach US$1.1 billion in 2020 - surpassing the US$1 billion mark for the first time.

While the number may not look huge next to classic radio and the rise of audiobooks, Deloitte states that in a world where overall media and entertainment growth stands at just 4%, 25-30% annual growth is pretty darn impressive, even considering the low absolute base. We believe that podcasts allow us to share inspiring stories from here in Asia, and give you a direct opportunity to hear from the change-makers in the region.

We hope that the series will be your weekly dose of edutainment as we navigate a new world.
