Indonesia has reportedly strengthened partnerships across stakeholders, including the community, to realise smart, resilient and sustainable cities.
Speaking at the 7th annual meeting of ASEAN Smart City Network (ASCN), the Indonesian home ministry director general of regional administration development, Adwil Amran, reportedly said that collaborations involving the public and private sectors through the network and other relevant platforms can bring better solutions for smart city development.
The annual meeting is aimed to increase awareness about understanding of smart and sustainable urban initiatives.

It also served as a platform for ASEAN countries to exchange and discuss good practices and lessons from implementing smart solutions to solve urban problems.
In addition, according to Antara News, Indonesia intends to encourage the development of smart, sustainable and resilient cities. The nation is reportedly contributing efforts to improve ASEAN connectivity and resilience amid the current global geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics.
According to Amran, the ASCN has grown rapidly with around 50 projects and 40 partnerships to provide support, capacity building, knowledge sharing and technical assistance.
Becoming a smart city is of utmost importance for nations in Asia, this is especially since brands in APAC lead in global gen AI rollout.
This is especially since almost two in three (65%) Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) brands have implemented full or initial AI solutions and pilots, ahead of the US (61%) and Europe (55%).
That said, there are no formal generative AI adoption strategies that exist. In Asia, 2% of senior executives conceded that there was no formal strategy compared to 30% of practitioners, according to a report titled "Digital trends 2024 Asia Pacific and Japan" by Adobe.
