Indonesia's Minister of state apparatus empowerment and bureaucratic reform Abdullah Azwar Anas has stated that the Indonesian government will continue to look into accelerating transformation and integration of national digital services via an electronic-based government system (SPBE).

This is the first time in history that the Republic of Indonesia will immediately move toward integrated national digital services, according to Anas after attending a limited cabinet meeting chaired by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the presidential palace in Jakarta.

He added that he is optimistic that the country's position will be better after the integration.

According to a media statement published by the Cabinet Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, the 'Acceleration of Digital Transformation and Integration of National Digital Services' has set priorities for nine main services, all of which that will be integrated into a national digital platform known as INA Digital soon.

This will be in accordance with presidential regulation number 82 of 2023, which is to define the terms relating to digital transformation and national digital services and outline measures to improve digital services across the country.

The INA Digital aims to integrate various government services in one portal, facilitate access for the public, and increase interoperability between ministries and institutions. The digital platform will be managed by state-owned securities paper and banknote printing company Peruri.

Some of the services that will be integrated into the portal will include population administration, education, health, police services, social assistance and immigration services.

According to Anas, President Joko Widodo had instructed all ministries to join the INA Digital by next May, indicating the government’s urgency and high commitment to the digital transformation.

The minister emphasised that the integration will not only provide more accessible services for the public but also improve government efficiency and transparency, which would further place emphasis on the use of modern technology and digitalisation. The Indonesian government aims to accelerate the provision of public services that are more responsive and accountable to the public.

Prior to this initiative of integrating digital services in the country, the Indonesian government has also recently taken action to increase community economic activity and encourage national economic development and growth within the country.

This was done by approving 14 new national strategic projects (PSNs), which have high investment values and broad economic impact on infrastructure such as roads, ports, railways, airports, dams, energy, electricity, health, and telecommunications sectors.

As mentioned in a separate internal meeting chaired by the president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, all new PSNs approved, financing will come from private investors and is intended to support downstream acceleration policies, support connectivity, support national and regional economic development and equity, create jobs, and get support from sector ministries.
