Hong Kong Disneyland's eCommerce director to step down

Hong Kong Disneyland’s eCommerce director John Sinke has announced his departure on LinkedIn, while he will take up another position at “another Disney entity” in January.
Sinke announced his departure and said, “Thank you for visiting! (After) Four years and six days, one super typhoon, months of social unrest and a global pandemic later, it’s time to say goodbye to my beloved Hong Kong Disneyland.”
He added that he will “continue in January with another Disney entity here in Asia” after going back to the UK and the Netherlands to spend time with his family.
Sinke joined Hong Kong Disneyland as marketing and customer engagement director in November 2017. In this position, he managed brand and product campaigns to grow revenue for the consumer direct business; developed and implemented the consumer direct and digital strategy in APAC, including China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan and eight other markets.
He also Implemented marketing and media strategies to help the theme park penetrate different consumer segments and target guests from key source markets across APAC.
Sinke took on his current role in March 2020, where he was responsible for commercial strategies of all eCommerce travel platforms in APAC, including Hong Kong Disneyland’s website, Tmall and WeChat. He also managed partnerships with third party eCommerce platforms such as Alibaba and Tencent to drive revenue for digital direct channels.
Additionally, he expanded and optimised eCommerce, affiliate marketing and metasearch campaigns across APAC to increase sales and improve ROI.
Before joining Hong Kong Disneyland, Sinke held senior positions at businesses in Singapore. He was assistant vice president of digital marketing, eCommerce and social media, where he provided strategic leadership and guidance to senior management for the digital transformation of Resorts World Sentosa and grew revenue for attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, in addition to hotels, F&B, entertainment and spa.
Moreover, Sinke was regional marketing manager for Asia at Singapore fintech company CMC Markets from April 2010 to October 2012. He managed sales and marketing programmes across Asia to increase active customer database and trading revenue; as well as managed local marketing and sales teams in Singapore, Japan and China to drive business growth through customer acquisition, retention and engagement.
