Hong Kong Technology Venture Company's eCommerce platform HKTVmall will launch a live commerce channel in May this year, as part of its effort to strengthen the company's social eCommerce development.

Also known as “HKTVLive”, the channel will be trialled with 70 streaming channels in mid April and will gradually expand to 100 channels at the official launch in May. The move aims to allow online and physical retailers to produce livestream videos on the HKTVmall App to drive digitalisation of the retail industry, according to the release.

The company invites any retailers, physical stores and international brand owners to take part in the initiative. Big, medium and small enterprises can enjoy a low commission of 3%, as well as reaching over 1.5m potential clients through instant interactions with audiences during their live commerce shows even when the shop owners are resting at their physical stores.

"This plan is very suitable for merchants who already have a physical store, such as fashion, cosmetics and skin care products, jewelry and other merchants. They can use the space of the physical store and the salesperson in the store to conduct live broadcasts, show customers the actual products, and demonstrate how to use them in real time or clothing matching, use up the original resources of the physical store, and save additional setup costs," said the company.

Merchants can also set up a payment link in the live broadcast channel, "When customers watch the live broadcast, they can directly leave a message indicating the product and quantity they want to buy to get the a designated code. This could increase the customer's purchase desire," HKTVmall added.

“We will actively promote merchants' exclusive live broadcasts on the HKTVmall live channel, increase their exposure opportunities, allowing merchants to accurately promote products to their target customer groups, as well as easily contact potential customers household,” said the company.
