HKTV bolsters eCommerce biz with new business development and marketing director role

Hong Kong Technology Venture Company (HKTV) has appointed Ken Chan (pictured) as director of business development and marketing for its subsidiary eCommerce platform HKTVmall, effective from June. In this newly created role, Chan will report to Jelly Zhou, chief executive officer (Hong Kong) of HKTV.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson from HKTV said that the role was created as HKTVmall wished to explore various new initiatives and projects to build its unique eCommerce business model. In his new position, Chan will lead multiple marketing functions, including all facets of eCommerce marketing, design and “Wet Market Express” (街市即日餸) delivery business. He will also lead the new business development team to further expand HKTVmall services beyond Hong Kong.

On a marketing perspective, Chan will leverage on his previous experiences to develop mid to long-term strategic planning, as well as strengthening brand preposition of HKTVmall in addition to driving sales growth by various marketing planning and promotions. Besides, he will lead the development of quick commerce on "Wet Market Express", aiming to further enhance HKTVmall’s service pledge, coverage and services and help the company serving another new customer segment for offline wet markets.

Prior to HKTV, he had previously helmed the role of brand marketing head, Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area of HSBC and regional commercial and marketing director of Procter & Gamble (P&G). Chan has garnered strong commercial leadership experience across Hong Kong, Taiwan and Greater China with solid experience in branding, digital marketing, social, media, communications and go-to market omni-channel commercial execution capability.

Commenting on the appointment, Zhou said: “With Chan’s strong commercial leadership experience across different markets and his depth of expertise in FMCG and financial sectors, we believe that he will bring inspiring ideas to our existing core team, joining hands to bring HKTVmall being a brand of trustworthiness to global consumers.”
