Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) launched its “Hong Kong Halloween” campaign, bringing a series of festival experiences including 3D light show, limited “ghostly” tram, special celebrations and guides.

The campaign, which began earlier this month is set to run through end of October, and aims to create a festive and joyful time for both residents and visitors while stimulating night-time economy.

As part of the initiative, Hong Kong Space Museum rolled out 3D Celestial Projections show every evening from 8:15 pm to 10:30 pm, 18 October to 31 October. The museum transformed into a series of festive characters, including a hungry pumpkin enjoying local delicacies, a funky ghost DJ playing music through the night, and more, attracting people to take photos.

HKTB also released ghostly Halloween-themed trams on to the streets of Hong Kong Island to get consumers into the festive spirit. The popular ice cream truck would also hit the streets in special pumpkin decorations on selected evenings throughout the month.

On Central Harbourfront, HKTB will hold a Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival on 26 and 27 October. The first 300 participants in Halloween costumes each day can sign up at the inforamtion centre to win two tasting passes. Meanwhile, a flash mob will appear after 6 pm to arrange interactive games.

HKTB has also launched a late-night dining guide to help locals and visitors spot places to satisfy their late-night cravings. Featuring over 30 supper recommendations in town, the guide covers diverse flavours and special discount offerings.

Visitors could take pictures at hotspots such as Hong Kong international airport, MTR stations, visitor information centres and various shopping malls with Halloween-themed decorations.

Dane Chang, HKTB executive director, said: “With tons of fun-filled events and activities full of cultural colours across the city, Hong Kong’s Halloween in October is one of the attractions for tourists visiting Hong Kong, aiming to create a festive and joyful time for both locals and visitors while stimulating night-time economy."
