Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC)/Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens 2024 has appointed Havas Play and Havas Social to manage the event management and social media duties.
With its experience in managing sports events such as the HKFC Tradition Rugby 10s, Havas is tasked at orchestrating a seamless experience for soccer enthusiasts, players, and fans alike. Havas Play and Havas Social will work together to manage the entire event, secure sponsors and amplify the messaging through social media.
Havas Play is responsible for sponsorship procurement, where it has sourced and facilitated the transition of the headline sponsorship to Standard Chartered from Citi Group. Additionally, it manages the event from logistics to on-ground coordination.
On the other hand, Havas Social employs social media amplification strategies. Its team of content creators, strategists, and video producers will keep fans engaged with real-time updates, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, and interactive challenges. They will also monitor and respond to online sentiment before, during, and after the event.
Ryan Matthysen, senior event manager, Havas Play, said: “We are delighted to once again be involved in delivering the HKFC Soccer Sevens. Featuring some of the biggest clubs in the world, this iconic tournament is an important event on the Hong Kong football calendar and allows us to witness some of the finest young talent from numerous nations.”
Jack Lambert, head of Havas Social, said: “This is an amazing opportunity to be involved once again in an iconic and spirited sports event here in Hong Kong. Last year’s event was a huge success, where we were able to reach hundreds of thousands of fans locally and around the world through organic social media content alone. We hope to go even bigger this time around for the 25th anniversary.”
