HKEX celebrates International Women's Day and diversity in new video

Diversity and inclusion are values that plenty of companies champion. In celebration of International Women's Day, HKEX has rolled out a video, celebrating diversity, resiliency and success with some of its inspiring colleagues.

The video includes content about its employees' views on the importance of a diverse and inclusive culture within the company. The interviewees also talk about how they have been supporting each other throughout the pandemic. 

As for its culture, currently at HKEX, 41% of its staff are female. Women also make up 35% of its senior management. However, the same situation is not so prevalent among listed companies in Hong Kong. About 14% of board positions of companies listed in Hong Kong are held by women, lower than the UK (34%) and the US (28%).

To further encourage and support more than 2,500 listed companies in the Hong Kong market, in January 2019, HKEX stipulated that all Hong Kong-listed companies must disclose their board diversity policies. Issuers are now required to have a diversity policy, and to disclose the policy in their corporate governance reports.
