As the marketing and ad-tech solutions landscape in Hong Kong evolves in 2024, adaptability is key to success. Businesses are transforming their strategies to cope with the dynamic and competitive environment, especially with the emergence of new technologies such as AI.
A 2023 study by Hong Kong Productivity Council New Industrialisation revealed that over one-third of Hong Kong enterprises are applying artificial intelligence (AI) at multiple levels, such as marketing (58%), operations (44%), and internal management (34%). However, 49% of local AI enterprises have expressed encountering difficulties in recruiting technical talent.
Meanwhile, with the drastic change in consumer behaviour post-pandemic, 2024 will undoubtedly witness a continued high demand for solutions catering to Chinese consumers, especially across industries such as luxury retail, various retail sectors, and the dynamic hospitality industry encompassing hotels and F&B establishments.
There is a shift towards more streamlined approaches to recruitment in 2024. Companies are becoming more strategic and efficient in their efforts, emphasising quality over rapid expansion. It's about optimising your teams, according to Adam Michael Toctan, executive partner and co-founder, MCG Talent.
Offshoring remains a significant trend across various industries, particularly for roles not directly tied to customer-facing activities. The cost advantages of leveraging foreign markets need to be highlighted. In marketing and advertising, we are seeing more operational roles as well as technical roles being outsourced.
With that in mind, here are the salaries you can expect in 2024 as a marketer in Hong Kong as well as how they have increased or decreased since 2023.
