HK Disneyland and HKFYG team up to nurture young talent from GBA

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) has partnered with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) to debut the “A Magical Odyssey in Music” (奇妙音樂旅程) to inspire youngsters in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to become the next generation of entertainment superstars.

This comes as young people in the GBA are likely to express a sense of doubt and cautious optimism when it comes to pursuing their performing arts dreams. Without enough support from organisations and high-quality training programmes, they are being held back to develop their talent.

The partnership aims to create an opportunity for 400 students from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macao to learn and exchange ideas in performing arts, learn about professional performances at Hong Kong Disneyland. An opening ceremony was also held on 7 July.

Rosalyn Woo, vice president, product strategy, park operations and planning, HKDL, said, “Through this programme, we not only hope to facilitate interactive exchanges, but also provide a genuine stage for young performers from all over to showcase their talents.” She also hopes that participants will be encouraged to dare to dream and strive to find a stage that resonates in their hearts.

Helen Hsu, executive director of the HKFYG, said, “Through their exceptional artistry, they have demonstrated the boundless possibilities of music. I anticipate that this cross-regional collaboration will bring us a truly awe-inspiring audio-visual experience. Moreover, I hope it can serve as a starting point for the youth of the Greater Bay Area to establish connections with one another, so that they may join hands and bring their dreams and vitality to an even broader stage.”

Back in October 2023, Hong Kong Disneyland partnered with Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK) to launch a youth training programme to empower young talents with disabilities and spread the dream-making spirit among them.

Also known as “Disney Dream Makers Youth Development Programme: Empowering Young Talents with Disabilities”, the programme aimed to fund and support local artists with disabilities aged under 19, encouraging them to explore their artistic talents and creativity.
