Grab has introduced an addition of 200 electric vehicles, as part of Grab’s ongoing commitment to provide "best-in-class" products to ride-hailing drivers, as well as to "champion" driver welfare and build an environmentally-friendly fleet of the future. GrabRentals also looks to provide Grab driver-partners with vehicle rental options. This includes benefits in area such as lowering operating costs and increasing driver welfare. In a statement to Marketing, Kau Yi Ming (pictured), head of GrabRentals Singapore said that the team aims to “champion” the adoption of low-carbon emission technologies that benefit its drivers, passengers and the environment. “Our tech and data capabilities will also enable us to optimise the experience so that electric vehicles can be a key part of the transport future. We also would like to contribute positively to the development of a more sustainable transport network in Singapore,” he added. As part of a partnership with SP Group in August last year, driver-partners are able to charge the vehicles at any of SP Group’s charging points around the island, at a preferential charging rate of up to 30% discount. In February 2019, GrabRentals will also be launching an achievement-based rewards programme to encourage and engage the electric vehicles drivers. This comes as in a statement to Marketing in an earlier article, Grab Singapore’s head Lim Kell Jay said that the team at Grab is fully focused on its customers and are working to improve their experience based on their feedback. He added that over the past months, the team has worked towards creating long term value for its customers such as a series of product enhancements to improve core experience, and several initiatives. It also said that there will be no promotions being added to its platform despite the aggressive push by its Indonesian competitor, GOJEK. Meanwhile most recently, Grab appointed Poh Leng Yu as its communications consultant. Grab’s spokesperson has confirmed the appointment to Marketing. In her new role, Yu will be managing the internal and CEO communications across the ride-hailing company’s Southeast Asia markets. She brings with her over 20 years of expertise in corporate communication, public relations and marketing communication.
