GoTo partners Microsoft ID in move to adopt AI tool

Indonesian digital ecosystem GoTo Group is collaborating with Microsoft Indonesia in a move to adopt AI developer tool GitHub Copilot.  GitHub Copilot is a tool which boosts engineers' productivity and satisfaction in daily coding tasks with its AI capabilities. This includes real-time code suggestions, chat assistance in the integrated development environment and breaking down complex coding concepts using daily conversational language.

In addition, GoTo’s engineers are also seeing an early code acceptance rate of 30%. This means 30% of code suggestions made by GitHub Copilot are accepted or used by GoTo engineers.

According to a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, GoTo’s move in integrating AI into the company’s workflow underscores its commitment to driving innovation while empowering its workforce to deliver impactful technology at scale.

“Since June 2024, almost a thousand GoTo engineers have adopted GitHub Copilot, with full rollout expected by mid-October 2024. The adoption of this AI-powered coding assistant has enabled our engineers to enhance code quality and to accomplish more in less time. GoTo engineers have reported significant time savings averaging over seven hours per week, allowing them to innovate with greater speed and to bring more value to our users," said Hans Patuwo, chief operating officer, GoTo.

“We are thrilled to empower GoTo with GitHub Copilot, equipping their engineers with AI across the software development lifecycle. GoTo has implemented an impressive evaluation strategy, collaborating directly with engineers to collect first-hand measurements that showcase real impact. We’re excited to continue this journey, helping GoTo ship software ahead of the curve and accelerate the pace of innovation,” said Sharryn Napier, vice president, APAC at GitHub.

“We are proud to support GoTo in their mission to empower progress by offering technology infrastructure and solutions that enable everyone to thrive in the digital economy. Trust and technology go hand-in-hand, and this collaboration underscores our shared commitment to harnessing AI technology, creating meaningful opportunities for all Indonesians, and accelerating an inclusive digital transformation agenda as part of Microsoft’s 'Empowering Indonesia' initiative,” stated Andrew Boyd, general manager, digital natives and startups, Microsoft Asia.

Earlier in July this year, GoTo launched GoTo AI, a long-term AI innovation program that will develop and embed the latest AI technology throughout the GoTo system.

This comes as the company launches "Dira by GoTo AI", its first ever AI-enabled fintech voice assistant in Bahasa Indonesia. Dira is currently accessible on the GoPay app for a limited number of users.

It will be rolled out further before being made available on the Gojek app in the future.

Dira has been designed to enhance the overall user experience and will enable users to discover GoPay app features with greater ease.

It will also be able to perform various tasks faster using voice commands in Bahasa Indonesia.
