Digital ecosystem GoTo has launched GoTo AI, a long-term AI innovation program that will develop and embed the latest AI technology throughout the GoTo system.

This comes as the company launches "Dira by GoTo AI", its first ever AI-enabled fintech voice assistant in Bahasa Indonesia. Dira is currently accessible on the GoPay app for a limited number of users.

It will be rolled out further before being made available on the Gojek app in the future.

"GoTo’s products and services have always been rooted in our deep understanding of Indonesia, and GoTo AI continues this tradition. Dira by GoTo AI delivers a localised voice assistance solution that not only benefits our users, but also paves the way for more AI features across the GoTo ecosystem in the future," said Hans Patuwo, GoTo's chief operating officer.

Dira has been designed to enhance the overall user experience and will enable users to discover GoPay app features with greater ease.

It will also be able to perform various tasks faster using voice commands in Bahasa Indonesia.

“The GoPay app was designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind, in line with our mission to provide financial services for Indonesians from all levels of society including the country’s 97 million unbanked adults," said Patuwo.

"Today, we are taking simplicity and accessibility one step further with the unveiling of Dira on the GoPay app, a first-of-its-kind AI-based voice assistant in Indonesia’s financial technology industry," added Patuwo.

With Dira, users can perform the same tasks with fewer steps such as accessing the "insurance bills" page and discovering new features and functions more easily by eliminating the need for manual typing.

Dira will also make the benefits of AI more widely accessible as it can be utilised on all types of mobile phones including those with limited capacity at no cost, said a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

That said, for enhanced safety and security, users will still be required to authenticate transactions with PIN and biometric verifications such as fingerprint or facial recognition. Without verification, users will not be able to complete any transactions.

Moving forward, GoTo will continue to develop its AI capabilities across the GoTo ecosystem.

Late last month, Anthropic also unveiled its new AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, just three months after it rolled out its Claude 3 family of AI models.

Claude 3.5 is an updated AI model which sets new industry benchmarks for graduate-level reasoning, undergraduate-level knowledge and coding proficiency, said Anthropic in a statement.

The new Claude 3.5 Sonnet can accurately transcribe text from imperfect images, making it a core capability for retail, logistics, and financial services, where AI may glean more insights from an image, graphic or illustration than from text alone.
