Goodday Malaysia launches record-breaking entrepreneurship programme for kids

Goodday Milk has launched KidSTART, an initiative aimed at cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit among kids. Out of 340 participants, 20 kids with the best ideas were selected to partake in the finale of the entrepreneurship programme where they got to actualise their ideas.

The ongoing programme provides facilitators who will guide participating children to help them produce innovative business ideas. Etika Group’s VP of marketing, Amy Gan, said that they plan to expand the KidSTART programme and will work together with Malaysia’s Ministry of Education in 2024.

“In 2024, our target is to get 10 times more participations and will focus more on children from less privileged groups. Hence this opportunity would benefit them,” she told media site, Bernama. Gan also added that the lack of financial literacy amongst Malaysian youth inspired the birth of the programme. “By instilling confidence and imparting the skills required to fuel a child's entrepreneurial spirit, we are teaching our kids to understand the concept of money so they can make responsible financial decisions,” she added.

The aim of the programme, which was launched in November last year, is to develop a business spirit within children at a young age so that they can learn to balance education and business moving forward. It has also gone on to be featured in the Malaysian book of records as the biggest entrepreneurship programme for children, with the highest number of participants. The 340 participants were from all across the nation.

The first round of Goodday KidSTART recently wrapped up and Gan revealed that a second round will be launched later this year.

A+M has reached out to Etika for a statement.
