Former Ogilvy MY creative chief Gavin Simpson heads to TBWA\Indonesia

Former Ogilvy Malaysia chief creative officer Gavin Simpson (pictured) has joined TCP-TBWA\\Indonesia as chief creative officer with immediate effect. In addition to client responsibilities, Simpson will also be responsible for developing and training the agency’s talent. The role is a newly created one.
Simpson was previously with Ogilvy for over 20 years, working in Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines. He left his role as Ogilvy Malaysia's chief creative officer early in 2018. He has also had stints at Naga DDB, Leo Burnett Indonesia and Y&R Malaysia before it merged with VML to form VMLY&R. “I’ve long admired TBWA\\ and the work it does. I can’t wait to wear my pirate patch and disrupt market conventions. I’m very excited to be part of the incredible team in Jakarta,” Simpson said.
Saumyajit Banerjee, CEO, TCP-TBWA\\Indonesia said the country is a dynamic market fuelled by young creative talent shaping the landscape of the ad industry. "It’s a land of possibilities and home to disruptive brands such as Gojek, Cek-aja, Traveloka. Banerjee added that Simpson's strong leadership, vision and drive makes him the perfect candidate to create work that not only results in transformative creative for its clients, but also developing the agency’s talent.
Meanwhile, Chris Garbutt, worldwide chief creative officer TBWA\\Worldwide, added that Simpson is an exciting hire for the agency. "His reputation is impressive, he is tenacious and he’s a fighter, constantly challenging the status quo to ensure brands he works on are creating an impact. Simpson is a phenomenal talent and I’m looking forward to working with him again,” Garbutt said.
