Since launching with three stores in June of last year, foodpanda Hong Kong's pandamart has been a hit among locals. The company has announced the addition of its 16th pandamart fulfillment centre in in Sai Ying Pun, bringing pandamart's services to over 80% of Hongkongers.
Offering over 4,000 items including fresh produce, home goods, and even alcoholic beverages, pandamart enables users of foodpanda's delivery app to get what they need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Foodpanda attributes the change in consumer needs due to the pandemic and ensuing waves of social distancing measures throughout 2020 as a key factor in pandamart's success, noting that order volume increased tenfold between June and December of last year.
In 2021, foodpanda aims to offer 100% coverage, bringing pandamart's services to all Hongkongers.
"As one of the first-movers of grocery Quick Commerce (or Q-commerce) in Hong Kong, we have completely revolutionised the way people buy groceries online,” said Bill Lee, director of Dark Stores.
“Together with my experienced team, we remain agile and dedicated in adapting to predictive trends and the ever-changing pandemic environment, ensuring that we are able to cater to the needs of the Hong Kong public during this challenging time.”
