foodpanda Hong Kong has formed a partnership with Atome, introducing Atome’s "buy now pay later" feature on foodpanda's platform. Starting from 14 March, foodpanda Hong Kong's customers can split purchases into three zero-interest deferred payments upon checkout.
To use this feature, users can download the Atome app and register before selecting Atome as the checkout payment option. Foodpanda Hong Kong said the integration of Atome as an available payment solution for customers unleashes new potential for “quick commerce” in Hong Kong, as customers can enjoy quicker services and later payments with both foodpanda Hong Kong’s services and delivery in as fast as 10 minutes. They can also enjoy Atome’s interest-free deferred spending for their food and grocery orders.
“Both foodpanda Hong Kong and Atome are aligned in our mission of better serving the people of Hong Kong. By adding the buy now pay later payment flexibility on our all-in-one quick commerce platform, it makes food and grocery shopping even more instant, affordable and convenient for foodpanda customers," said Ryan Lai, managing director of foodpanda Hong Kong.
"The launch of this partnership is very timely, given COVID-19 restrictions and the economic impacts it brings, allowing Hong Kong residents to enjoy better financial flexibility while making food or grocery purchases safely from home," he added.
Eric Yu, general manager of Atome Hong Kong, said, “We are pleased to partner with foodpanda, Hong Kong’s leading on-demand delivery platform. foodpanda Hong Kong customers can now enjoy a flexible, transparent and seamless shopping and payment experience by checking out with Atome. This will make it even more convenient and affordable to Hong Kong residents to eat and shop for food and groceries safely, and from the comfort of their own home.”
Atome has been expanding in Hong Kong over the past years. Late last year, Atome partnered with Carousell Hong Kong, allowing its merchants to use the "buy now pay later" feature. Since the end of November 2021, interested merchants can also sign up for an exclusive plan, including HK$110,000 (US$14,103) worth of in-app advertising and other business support. With Atome, merchants can split their bills into three zero-interest deferred payments upon checkout via credit card, debit card or Apple Pay. This reduces time and paperwork needed in applications, especially for smaller sums, and provides more flexibility for merchants to manage their cash flow.
"This payment option will provide SMEs and new businesses in Hong Kong with a secure, seamless and flexible way to grow their business while managing their cash flow. The introduction of the Carousell x Atome revolving store plan will also provide these merchants with other crucial marketing and business support. We are glad to play our part in helping merchants scale their business and contribute to the Hong Kong economy," said Jonathan Cai, head of regional partnerships at Atome.
