TamJai SamGor has made clarifications of its latest promotional campaign after videos of a couple fighting vigorously in Tai Po went viral.  This comes as a couple were seen fighting violently in front of TamJai SamGor’s Tai Po store on 26 September, of which the woman was using martial arts techniques such as scissor kicks and arm throw. Then a staff from the restaurant came out to mediate between the two and attempted to calm them down.

Videos of the incident have gone viral with many questioning if the two were filming an action movie or if the fight was actually real, a check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE saw on Facebook forum “香港米線關注組”.  Social monitoring firm Meltwater saw a total of 130 mentions over the past two days.

On 27 September, TamJai SamGor unveiled on its Facebook page that the “fight” was actually part of the promotional campaign for its latest product “黑白辛椒式-煳椒肉骨湯米線”. “We especially invited a team of very professional stuntmen who are engaged in film and television performances to participate in the performance. They have fully rehearsed and taken adequate safety measures (some audience saw them wearing waist and knee braces),” the post read.

“The flash promotion requires stunt people to perform, and to serve food to our fans without interruption, TamJai SamGor’s staff are fully committed. Our stuntmen and staff are all hard-working, and we really appreciate the efforts of the heroes behind the scenes,” the post added.

Previously in July this year, TamJai SamGor has launched a new campaign ‘Sometimes spicy, sometimes hot, Life’s a mixture, we taste it all’ to demonstrate that the brand is here with the citizens of Hong Kong.  The campaign also aims to convey a message that no matter what "tastes" of HongKongers" lives have become, TamJai SamGor is always here, and the campaign also brings out the theme that during the hard time HongKongers are experiencing, the brand will never forget, "it will be our collective memory, it’s like the city’s history, it’s like the taste of SamGor," said the brand.
