
FedEx PH turns retired uniforms into eco-conscious gifts for customers

In a continuing push to combine brand innovation with environmental stewardship, FedEx has once again partnered with Philippines-based NGO Mori Notes to breathe new life into old courier uniforms, transforming them into sustainable gifts for customers.
Now in its fifth year, the collaboration sees FedEx upcycle 300 retired shirts into 200 gadget pouches and 200 neck pillows—each one hand-crafted, functional, and emblematic of a brand driven by environmental conscience. These creations are more than just thoughtful tokens; they symbolise FedEx's evolving narrative in sustainability and circular design, the firm emphasised.
“At FedEx, we are committed to advancing sustainability across our operations and creating opportunities within the communities we serve,” said Maribeth Espinosa, managing director of FedEx Philippines, in a release.

The initiative is part of a wider, long-term effort. Since 2020, FedEx has repurposed hundreds of uniforms—300 pairs of trousers and 50 shirts—into 600 artisanal journals and 100 woven pouches. Waste reduction doesn't stop at fabric; the company also channels used wooden pallets and plastic waste to local organisations who repurpose them, keeping materials out of landfills and in productive use.
Beyond textiles, FedEx is investing in smarter, greener operations. Digital tools like FedEx Ship Manager (FSM) and paperless import/export declaration systems help reduce energy and paper usage. The company has also introduced FedEx Sustainability Insights, a cloud-based emissions reporting tool that empowers customers to track their carbon footprint and fine-tune their logistics strategies.
Delivering to over 220 countries, FedEx has operated in the Philippines since 1984, now with a 1,000-strong local workforce and a 9,000-package-per-hour sorting capacity, according to its website.
In July 2024, FedEx signed an agreement with Clark International Airport operator LIPAD to expand its gateway facility in Clark, Pampanga—doubling its size to support growing demand for eCommerce, freight, and cold-chain shipments across Asia Pacific.
The upgrade, part of a broader vision to establish Clark as a global logistics hub, was expected to boost import-export access for local businesses, especially SMEs, and bring economic benefits to the region through job creation and infrastructure development.
Last year, FedEx Express Philippines teamed up with Hands On Manila for their continued "Adopt-a-school programme," where volunteers conducted a donation turnover of medicines, hygiene kits, school supplies, and equipment, followed by a storytelling session and the distribution of plantable pencils to promote environmental conservation among students.
