#ExplainIt: HK agency leaders on how they inspire inclusion this IWD
share on
The theme for this year's International Women's Day (IWD) is "Inspire inclusion", which calls for action to dismantle barriers, challenge stereotypes and foster environments where all women are valued.
In APAC, the representation of women on boards continues to show a trend upward in 2023. According to MSCI’s “Women on boards progress report 2023”, women held 18.2% of board seats in 2023, up from 16.6% in 2022.
Among all APAC markets, Australia (40.8%), Singapore (25.3%), Hong Kong (19%) and South Korea (16.3%) recorded the strongest improvement, with female representation at corporate boards increased by three percentage points or more.
Zooming into Hong Kong, the percentage of companies with all-male boards has decreased to 8.8% in 2023, a significant decline from 17.1% in 2022. Meanwhile, the proportion of companies with female CEOs has slightly increased to 4.4% in 2023, up from 4.3% in 2022.
Despite improvements in the representation of Asian women, how industry players can come together to foster inclusivity in the long run, has been a discussion for years. That's why MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to female industry players in Hong Kong to share how they can drive change within their respective companies, and create an environment where women can thrive and ascend to leadership positions this IWD.
Check out what they had to say.
