It's no secret that we as a society are living and working through some of the most challenging and uncertain times yet post pandemic. As organisations prepare themselves for the impending challenges that the year ahead will bring, many are looking at hiring trends, job growth and salaries in order to stay ahead of the curve.
After all, staying on top of trends is essential for businesses to attract, retain, and develop the best talent, according to Kirsty Hulston, the regional director at Hays Singapore.

To help companies keep on top of trends, professional recruitment group Hays has released its 2023 Hays Asia Salary Guide which surveyed 10,191 skilled professionals and 3,630 employers from Singapore, Malaysia, mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, and Japan for insight on how they are navigating the evolving work landscape and recruitment strategies.
The guide discovered that staff levels in Singapore had a slower growth in 2022 than anticipated. In 2022, 44.3% of employers in Singapore reported hiring more staff in comparison to the initial projection of 46.7%. However, trends show that employers are still keen to hire as demonstrated in the projected increase of 51% of new hires in 2023. In particular, there is a rising trend for employers in Singapore to hire contract workers for special projects and exceptional circumstances.
Hays also found that employees who remain optimistic about receiving a larger salary in 2023 might have to manage their expectations as employers are only planning for increases up to 6% while Singaporeans are expecting salary increases of 6% and up.
With that in mind, here are the salaries you can expect in 2023 as a marketer in Singapore as well as how they have increased or decreased since 2022.
