Digital infrastructure company Equinix INC has picked Haris Izmee (pictured) as its new managing director of Equinix Indonesia, a joint venture company between Equinix and PT Astra International (Astra).
In his new role, Izmee will spearhead the company’s growth strategy and drive expansion efforts in Indonesia, including the recently announced JK1 International Business Exchange TM data centre in Jakarta.

Izmee, brings nearly 25 years of experience in cloud computing, aerospace, and technology, with a strong track record of driving growth and business transformation across ASEAN markets.
He has held leadership roles at major companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft, leading expansion and market penetration efforts, it said.
Prior to Izmee’s current role, he was the CEO and co-founder of Chatra from 2023 to 2024. Izmee also worked freelance as a strategic advisor for brands such as CaringUp and BetterPlace.
“We are thrilled to welcome Izmee to Equinix to lead our team in Indonesia as we accelerate our expansion and build a world-class team in this exciting new market," said Merrie Williamson, executive vice president and chief customer and revenue officer, at Equinix.
"Our presence in Indonesia will add a high-growth market to Equinix’s extensive network of interconnected data centres worldwide. You’ll hear more from Izmee in the coming months as we approach the launch of JK1 and continue our growth in this strategic region,” Williamson added.
“I’m excited to join Equinix in its momentous journey in Indonesia. This dynamic market holds immense potential, and as a leading data centre provider, Equinix is uniquely positioned to drive growth and innovation here," said Izmee.
"I’m passionate about leveraging Equinix’s robust platform to make a significant impact on Indonesia’s digital landscape and contribute to the broader region’s advancement. I look forward to collaborating with the team and unlocking new opportunities in this vibrant market,” Izmee added.
In April 2023, Equinix and Astra announced a joint venture with a 75% and 25% equity stake, respectively, known as Equinix Indonesia, to develop the digital infrastructure in Indonesia that multinationals and local businesses need to accelerate their digital transformation.
This comes after Equinix INC introduced it plans last year to establish its first data centre in Kuala Lumpur in the first quarter of 2024. This follows its announcement last year that it would be entering the Malaysia market with a data centre in Johor.
Malaysia is a fast-growing data centre market in the ASEAN region, with much of its development attributed to Johor and Kuala Lumpur, according to Malaysian trade minister Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
