Eco World Development Group and digital media company iMedia are offering up to RM1,000,000 in digital media advertising to support local businesses as part of the Bina Bersama campaign. The grant is given to local business owners, that either lease or purchase a unit at any of EcoWorld’s 13 participating commercial properties in the Klang Valley, Iskandar Malaysia or Penang.

Advertising will be done across the seven media platforms owned by iMedia, including Oh!Media, BeautifulNara, Goody25, Moretify, and Ittify. According to iMedia, local businesses can reach a potential of 5.9 million users. The campaign will end when the grant is entirely allocated. A+M has reached out to iMedia to find out how many companies have been awarded the grant thus far.

The initial round of Bina Bersama was first launched last August, with iMedia handing out RM500,000 in media inventory to selected businesses. According to iMedia previously, selection criteria for the scheme included annual sales turnover not exceeding RM1,000,000. CEO and co-founder of iMedia Voon Tze Khay (pictured right) disclosed previously that it would be selecting a total of six to seven businesses, each to receive between RM70,000 to RM85,000. This time round, Voon said the response since the launch "has been so encouraging" and it looks forward to supporting local businesses in their new ventures.

Meanwhile, Chang Khim Wah (pictured left), president and CEO of EcoWorld Malaysia, said it is glad to be able to play a role in giving local businesses a boost to succeed in these challenging times. "New norms require new thinking and we hope this will spur businesses to seize the opportunity presented," he said. A+M has reached out to iMedia for additional information.

IMedia has been fast expanding its media inventory, with its latest acquisition in December 2020 being Chinese-language portal Moretify. Combined with Chinese language portal Goody25 which iMedia snapped up last September, iMedia said its Chinese network will reach approximately 3.5 million monthly users with close to 14 million page views each month.

It also expanded its video advertising solutions network and sponsorship opportunities last November through partnerships with OTT video streaming service Viu as well as Tencent-owned WeTV and iflix to expand its video advertising solutions network and sponsorship opportunities. Some of the brands that have come on board include Digi, Prego, Kawan Foods and Nippon Paint.
