Ronnie Brown steps up as Singapore GM and CTO of DirectAsia Insurance

DirectAsia Insurance has promoted Ronnie Brown (pictured) to take on the role of general manager for Singapore and group chief technology officer, according to a LinkedIn update by Brown.
Brown has been with DirectAsia Insurance for close to four years, joining the team in 2020 as its chief marketing and distribution officer. He was promoted in 2023 to be the company's chief marketing and distribution officer and group chief technology officer.

His role required him to support and drive the businesses in both Singapore and Thailand. The key deliverables he achieved were to create an IT strategy that seamlessly aligned with the overall business whilst ensuring its systems and processes remain robust.
"More specifically, this means; the creation of a scalable, reliable and secure architecture, ensuring we have customer centric product development via cross functional collaboration and the management of the team, partners, vendors and our budget," Brown explained on LinkedIn.
"My role has expanded out of marketing, sales and distribution to cover the other functions of the Singapore business. I'm now responsible for the strategy and performance of the business per se," said Brown in a conversaiton with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE on his promotion to Singapore general manager and group chief technology officer.
"I'll be managing the Singapore business overall but still have a group role for the Technology function which covers both Singapore and Thailand," he added.
Brown also had a prior stint with DirectAsia Insurance as its chief digital officer, a role he held for just over four years from 2015 to 2019. In this role, he was responsbile for the development and delivery of the digital strategy, working with the country CEO's and colleagues to align the tactics and metrics to the overall business strategy.
In the role, he oversaw the digital customer journey and for online sales, which included distribution via partners and aggregators.
Brown has also previously spent time in agencies such as Outside Line (Saatchi & Saatchi) and Quirk (Mirum) and client side with EMI Records and Reed Exhibitions.
These experiences have given him a rounded view of the digital, marketing and sales functions across many vertical industries.

We're growing in every sense and are absolutely committed to delivering great value and service for our customers be they agents, partners or customers that come to us directly via our website," said Brown.
