Fashion brand Dior has postponed its highly anticipated menswear show set to be held in Hong Kong next month, according to a government official.

In a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson for the city’s tourism chief Kevin Yeung’s office said the government was informed by the organiser that the event has been postponed.

“Large-scale events are postponed from time to time, and we continue to welcome large-scale events to take place in Hong Kong,” the spokesperson added.

On the other hand, Dior said the fashion show had been “postponed indefinitely” without any elaborations, according to the South China Morning Post.

The Dior show was expected to cost about HK$100 million and attract nearly 1,000 visitors, said the report.

Led by Dior’s creative director Kim Jones, the show was supposed to be the second luxury brand to bring its Men Pre-Fall show to Hong Kong in the first quarter of 2024.

The Dior show plans to unveil its Men’s Pre-Fall collection, according to WWD. Following places including Tokyo, Miami, London, Los Angeles and Cairo, Dior has chosen Hong Kong to be the next destination for presenting a runway show to celebrate the artistic director's deep enthusiasm for exploring diverse cultures and travelling the world.

Dior's announcement came shortly after Louis Vuitton announced its plan to hold its first Men's Pre-Fall fashion show in Hong Kong. This event showcased the second men's collection by creative director Pharrell Williams, building upon the positive reception of the menswear Spring Summer 2024 collection presented during Paris Fashion Week in June 2023.

Louis Vuitton’s show took place at the iconic Avenue of Stars with support from K11 MUSEA, both integral parts of K11 Group's marquee mega development project K11 Victoria Dockside, showcasing Williams' second collection as he infuses the Pre-Fall 2024 collection with his creative vision and signature style, further enriching the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong's fashion landscape.

To engage a wider audience, the grand fashion extravaganza was livestreamed on the outdoor screen of K11 MUSEA on 30 November 2023, as well as worldwide via Louis Vuitton’s social media platforms.
