DHL names new APAC VP of communications, brand and sustainability

Global logistics company Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) Group has promoted Amanda De Silva to vice president for DHL Asia Pacific, group communications, brand and sustainability to direct, shape and establish the regional functional strategy for integrated communications in the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to her current role, De Silva was the head of employee and digital communications, Asia Pacific at DHL from January 2022 to April 2023.

Taking over as head of employee and digital communications for DHL Asia Pacific will be current head of organisational communications, DHL supply chain, Asia Pacific, Thomas Ng.

“De Silva brings a wealth of experience to her current role with more than 22 years in the communications industry,” said Monika Schaller, global head of communications, sustainability and brand, DPDHL Group.

“I fully believe the region will grow from strength to strength under her remarkable leadership,” Schaller continued.

De Silva first joined DHL in 2011 as a corporate communications manager for Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. There, she led regional communications campaigns, working across the various business divisions on news development and media relations, before assuming the role of head of corporate responsibility programs in 2015.

In 2020 she was promoted to head of organisational communications, DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific, before becoming head of employee and digital communications, Asia Pacific, in 2022.

“I am delighted to be taking on this role and leading such a fantastic team to spearhead various initiatives for the DPDHL Group,” said De Silva.

She also added “The Asia Pacific region is of the fastest-growing regions in the world, and therefore we must employ the right communication strategies to generate adequate growth and impact for the company.”

On top of her 12-year stint at DHL, De Silva has worked at PR agencies in Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong which will serve her well in her new role.

Recently, Malaysian clean energy solutions company Gentari appointed Dheeraj Raina as its new chief marketing and strategic communications officer as of May this year. 

This comes shortly after he vacated his role as CEO of dentsu media in May this year after nearly two years in the position, which he announced on his LinkedIn. Prerna Mehrotra stepped into the role of CEO of media for dentsu APAC after.  

During his time at dentsu, Raina was tasked to lead all media brands under its wing - Consider iProspect, Vizeum, Carat, dentsu X, Amplifi, Posterscope, and Amnet.
