Deliveroo HK and Feeding HK's partnership raises HK$2.2 million over two years

Deliveroo HK has raised over HK$2.2 million through the delivery app’s donation feature since its partnership with Feeding Hong Kong started in 2020, echoing the trend of actively supporting underprivileged communities around the globe.
The Deliveroo in-app donation and tipping feature were the first of its kind in Hong Kong, according to Deliveroo’s press release. The feature allows consumers to round up their totals or make an additional donation. The funds raised have resulted in over 440,000 meals being distributed to Hong Kongers facing food insecurity since the campaign started in June 2020.
As part of this campaign, Deliveroo has extended its partnership with Feeding Hong Kong to continue with its ongoing efforts to reach low-income families that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, via the organisation’s network of over 160 frontline charities across Hong Kong.
The partnership came after Deliveroo promised to make imperative sustainable development goals in 2020, following the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda’s goal of ‘Zero Hunger.’ The CSR effort is among one of the many unique initiatives created by Deliveroo to support the community, including delivering antiviral care packages to the elderly and low-income families with FOOD-CO and The Jade Club, creating compostable, eco-friendly food wrap packing for World Food Day with Cali-Mex, and offering collection sites for HongKongers to drop off their mooncake boxes to be recycled.
Along with the in-app contributions, Deliveroo has pledged to volunteer for 100 hours this year, with Deliveroo staff visiting the Feeding Hong Kong warehouse to assist in the packaging of donated food. In May, Deliveroo helped pack 600 meals for beneficiaries before the Dragon Boat Festival. Many Deliveroo employees took advantage of the company's one-day volunteer leave programme to give back to the community and demonstrate their charitable values, as Deliveroo has strived to integrate “giving back” as a core value into its company culture.
Furthermore, the company has expanded its food drives to four additional Editions sites including Tuen Mun, Kwai Tsing, Cheung Sha Wan and Tseung Kwan O, people who work or live there are all able to donate food to people in need across the city.
