Deliveroo and Gojek join hands to enhance user experience and demand

Food delivery platform Deliveroo and ride-hailing service Gojek have signed a long-term partnership agreement as it looks to deliver increased value for users in Singapore and enhancing experiences across both platforms.

As part of the broad partnership, the two companies will introduce extensive new benefits and drive cross-platform savings for both Deliveroo and Gojek users. Both companies will also work together on joint initiatives to build customer loyalty and create increased earning opportunities for driver-partners and delivery-riders across both platforms.

In addition, Deliveroo and Gojek will look to explore other possible areas for deeper alignment and collaboration, including community engagement and sustainability.

This partnership is particularly timely in today’s economic climate and in light of rising costs, it said. As such, in the spirit of the upcoming National Day, and beyond, Deliveroo and Gojek are continuing their mission to be platforms of good - not just for consumers, but also for their drivers, riders and merchant partners in Singapore.

“As two of the leading providers in on-demand services, joining forces with Deliveroo makes a lot of sense for us. By collaborating across ride-hailing and food delivery services, not only are we able to bring additional value and exciting new benefits to customers, but this partnership will also help to provide increased earnings opportunities for our driver-partners," said Lien Choong Luen, general manager of Gojek Singapore.

He added that ensuring that they can build a sustainable livelihood on the platform will always be a priority for them, and collaborating with like-minded partners, such as Deliveroo, has an important role to play in helping them to achieve that goal.

“This long-term partnership is just the start, and we look forward to working closely with Deliveroo to drive greater convenience and meet the changing needs of all our users across Singapore,” he said.

As part of the partnership, from 1 August, users on both platforms can enjoy discounted rides and discounted rides and food each month, plus additional savings and rewards.

“Through this partnership with Gojek, Deliveroo reaffirms its commitment to enhancing offerings to consumers. Beyond that, we will also be able to create greater visibility for Deliveroo merchants to a wider pool of consumers. We have identified these synergies with Gojek as we work towards our mutual goal of providing convenience, value and the best service to our partners who keep us fed and get us where we need to go,” said Jason Parke, general manager of Deliveroo Singapore.

“With National Day around the corner, we further celebrate the nation’s milestone by bringing greater value to consumers through convenience and savings, along with wider contributions towards the daily lives of Singaporeans and the economy,” he said.

The news comes shortly after it was revealed that ride-hailing company Grab will be acquiring Trans-Cab, one of Singapore’s largest taxi operators, according to a statement by the companies. It will acquire 100% of the shares in Trans-Cab in this deal.

The acquisition includes Trans-Cab’s taxi and car rental business, maintenance workshop, and fuel pump operations as well as its combined taxi and private-hire-vehicle (PHV) fleet of more than 2,500 vehicles.

“Consumer behaviours have shifted, and we’ve recognized for some time the need to digitise the business and ensure our taxi drivers can continue to be competitive. We are confident this deal protects their future,” said Jasmine Tan, general manager of Trans-Cab. “Grab’s industry-leading tech will help our taxi drivers drive more productively and safely while serving their passengers better. We know that Grab cares deeply about their driver-partners, just as we do. We are entering this deal with full assurance that Grab will do their best to safeguard the livelihoods of our taxi drivers.
