DBS HK looks after vulnerable families with food packs

DBS Hong Kong has announced a plan to donate food packs to help the elderly and vulnerable better cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, with Hong Kong-based charity Foodlink Foundation.

Aimed at benefiting 10,000 vulnerable families with 10,000 food packs, the collaboration will see DBS Hong Kong donate 1,000 DBS “Care More” food packs from Foodlink for every 10,000 DBS customers who register to receive the Hong Kong government’s HK$10,000 cash payout.

“Given the uncertainty many people face amid the pandemic, we must work together to support those most in need. We hope this meaningful gesture will bring some joy to affected families, and encourage everyone to do more to help out in the community,” said Vivian Chan, managing director of deposits, payment and secured lending, consumer banking, at DBS Hong Kong.

This latest collaboration is another initiative the bank hopes will help the underprivileged in the community. Earlier this year, DBS Hong Kong and its employees donated 10,000 Foodlink food packs.

Also in April, DBS Hong Kong worked with self-financing non-profit organisation Senior Citizen Home Safety Association to increase its outreach services by more than 20,000 service sessions and procure care and food packs from social enterprise Agent of Change, which helps the underprivileged by selling quality food and household goods at a low cost.
