Warner Bros. Discovery has promoted its APAC vice president of growth marketing and streaming, Daniel Tan (pictured), to senior vice president of marketing for APAC, according to Warner Bros. Discovery when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out.
Tan will report to Patrizio Spagnoletto, global chief marketing officer, direct-to-consumer in his new regional role. He will expand his remit to oversee integrated marketing divisions across APAC that span the company’s regional direct-to-consumer, networks, brand, partnerships and franchise marketing functions.

In this role, he leads the regional marketing teams to drive branding, content marketing, full-funnel subscriber growth, retention and engagement, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. The company’s portfolio features brands such as HBO, DC, Harry Potter and Wizarding World, Discovery and Cartoon Network, as well as streaming services HBO GO and discovery+, with plans to launch Max in selected Asian territories in 2024.
Prior to his promotion, Tan was APAC vice president of growth marketing and streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, a role he held for just over two years. In the role, he was dedicated to enhancing consumer awareness, consideration, conversion, engagement, and retention. He also took charge of pricing, packaging, and partnerships to boost streaming revenues and played a pivotal role in driving CRM strategies throughout consumer lifecycles and spearheading customer experience initiatives.
Prior to that, Tan spent eight years at The Walt Disney Company. He joined the company in 2013 as its director of marketing, branded media and content before climbing the ladder through multiple positions such as executive director marketing, media networks SEA, chief marketing officer for Malaysia and Singapore and head of marketing at Disney+.
At Disney, Tan established customer acquisition, retention and win-back strategies to drive subscriber growth; created marketing budgets, strategies and plans, and led regional marketing for Disney's content distribution business in South APAC and Middle East, his LinkedIn said.
Before that, Tan was part of the WarnerMedia family under Turner International where he was regional marketing director (Southeast Asia and Greater China) from 2008 to 2013. He also worked at FOX Networks Group as regional marketing director and Scorpio East Entertainment as marketing director.
"I am extremely excited to be tasked with this opportunity to work with an incredibly talented and passionate team of marketers and creative experts in APAC," Tan told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE with regard to his new role.
"With some of the world’s best stories in its content portfolio, Warner Bros. Discovery is well positioned to navigate the changes in the media sector, and I look forward to partnering with our global, regional and local colleagues to help shape the next stage of growth in 2024 – particularly with the launch of Max in Asia," he added.
