Cuckoo MY names Korean actor Lee Minho brand ambassador alongside Siti Nurhaliza

Household appliances company Cuckoo Malaysia has appointed South Korean actor Lee Minho as its new brand ambassador for 2022. The company confirmed Lee’s appointment in a Facebook and Instagram post on 1 April, and he will be involved in the #SAMSAMAHealthier campaign for the upcoming year. Since 1 April, Lee has featured in a slew of advertisements for Cuckoo, which can be viewed on the company’s social media pages.

Dubbed the "Hallyu King" by the brand, Lee joins Malaysian singer Siti Nurhaliza in this campaign, who was also reappointed as Cuckoo's brand ambassador. She was first appointed in 2020. The singer previously fronted the campaign with South Korean celebrity Rain.

Cuckoo's spokesperson told A+M that 2021 was a very successful year for the brand and Lee "perfectly embodies" Cuckoo's philosophy of going "Beyond Standards". Likewise, Siti Nurhaliza also embodied the same philosophy and both individuals displayed "a constant quest for excellence in everything they do – as an entertainer, performer, entrepreneur, role model, and philanthropist", the spokesperson added.

"Their image, energy, and passion fit our healthy brand appeal well. We believe that their positive influence would help the brand empower more Malaysians to #SAMASAMA to live healthier and happier lives," the spokesperson said.

The brand's marketing theme for 2022 is #SAMSAMAHealthier™ and through this, Cuckoo will continue to introduce innovative products and services, as seen in the recent launch of its flagship water purifier, the CUCKOO TITAN Tankless Mild Alkaline Water Purifier.

Separately in 2019, the brand engaged seven brand ambassadors, also known as "Cuckoo Friends", each embodying its philosophy of "Beyond Standards" in all that it does, as well as Cuckoo's goal of creating Healthy Homes for all. The seven individuals were singer and actor Nicholas Teo; Malaysia's first astronaut Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar; TV host Nabil Ahmad; singer Hetty Sarlene; radio host Sam Mak; radio host Chan Fong; and TV and radio host Aanantha.

Cuckoo expanded into Malaysia in 2014 and in 2016, its Malaysia operations achieved a 600% growth in sales. Meanwhile, in 2017, the brand's global turnover hit US$760 million. Today, it has operations in 30 countries across give continents. Separately, Lee has also worked with Lazada Group as its Southeast Asia brand ambassador and has fronted campaigns for Louis Vuitton in 2021 and Fendi this year.
