Crunchyroll and Telkomsel enhance anime streaming experience with bundling packages

Anime platform Crunchyroll has partnered up with Indonesia's digital telecom service provider Telkomsel to launch the first specialised anime destination package in Indonesia, namely the Telkomsel and Crunchyroll Bundling Package.

This aims to enhance anime fans’ accessibility to their favourite content anytime and anywhere. Telkomsel customers, including both prepaid and postpaid (Halo) users, can easily purchase the Telkomsel and Crunchyroll Bundling Package through the MyTelkomsel app and website.

The Crunchyroll Fan package, available for IDR 36,000, includes 3 GB of MAXstream quota for use on a single device. Meanwhile, the Crunchyroll Mega Fan package, priced at IDR 48,000, offers 5 GB of MAXstream quota and can be used on up to four devices simultaneously. Both packages can be purchased through Telkomsel.

Mega Fan subscribers will also have access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, providing fans with unlimited access to a growing library of premium mobile games.

Both packages are valid for one month and include a Crunchyroll subscription, allowing fans access to a wide range of popular Japanese anime content, such as One Piece, Kaiju No. 8, Solo Leveling, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3, Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction, and many more. 

Upon purchasing the Telkomsel and Crunchyroll Bundling Package through MyTelkomsel, customers will also receive an SMS containing a Crunchyroll voucher code. The voucher can then be redeemed through a website. 

After downloading the Crunchyroll App from the Play Store or App Store, they will have access to both the exclusive Japanese anime shows, many of which are exclusive to Crunchyroll.

"Crunchyroll's goal is to always meet fans when, where and how they want to love anime, and the Telkomsel partnership aptly positions us to give Indonesian fans that access,” said Terry Li, executive vice president of business development at Crunchyroll. “It's a significant milestone in expanding our audience base in the region with localised access."

Telkomsel also expressed its enthusiasm for this partnership, aiming to enrich its digital lifestyle offerings. To ensure a seamless transaction and subscription process, Telkomsel offers integrated payment options, including e-wallets, credit cards, or pay-later facilities, for customers opting for the Telkomsel and Crunchyroll Bundling Package.

"By integrating Telkomsel services with premium content from Crunchyroll, we aim to enhance the experience of our customers, especially anime content lovers spread across Indonesia," said Nirwan Lesmana, vice president of digital lifestyle services at Telkomsel. 

She added that they hope this collaboration will facilitate anime fans in accessing their favourite content, supported by the widest and most advanced broadband connectivity from Telkomsel.

This comes after Crunchyroll concluded its PR pitch back in January. It has picked communications firm Bloomingdale Public Relations to lead its PR strategy in selected Asian markets. 

Bloomingdale Public Relations will oversee Crunchyroll's strategic planning and coordination of regional PR efforts in India, and selected Southeast Asian markets of Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The scope of work includes strategic planning, client liaison, account management, media relations, and press office management, among others.
