LinkedIn adds more templates and customisable formats to push visual content

LinkedIn has released new features that would enable creators to share visual content in more creative ways with customisable backgrounds and fonts. This comes as the platform has seen a 20% rise year-over-year in users contributing visual content to their LinkedIn postings.

The social network platform has also made its debut in carousels, a visually engaging, swipeable format that would let creators combine images and videos. This content format is especially applicable when creating content involving step-by-step advice, tips and tricks as well as industry trends.

Similar to the clickable link sticker on Instagram, LinkedIn has also introduced a clickable link function that can be added directly to images or videos in posts. To add the clickable link, creators need to create a new post with an image or video on their mobile, tap the "Add a link" icon, enter their URL and customised link text, and then hit “Post”.

The carousels feature has been launched on creators’ LinkedInFeed, while the templates and clickable link function will roll out over the coming weeks.

Keren Baruch, product lead for creator strategy at LinkedIn and Angel investor said: “We love seeing new ways professionals are building engaging content through videos and images. We want to make it even easier to create visual content that helps you stand out and inspire your professional community.”

LinkedIn also recently announced new updates last June to its creator mode including a function allowing creators to highlight a URL in their profile header, improved creator discoverability and beta testing of “Audio Events” which gives creators the ability to host an interactive audio discussion with their audiences.

The social network platform had also previously scrapped its Stories function less than a year after it was introduced in June 2020.
