Digital content studio and talent network Collab Asia has expanded its presence in China, opening an office in Shenzhen to support its growth in the region.
The latest addition is Collab Asia’s eighth office, supplementing the company’s existing footprint in South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
“China is a promising market for digital content syndication and monetisation. The views earned by Collab Asia’s clients on Chinese platforms increased by over 300% in 2020, eclipsing 100 million monthly views by February 2021," commented Raffi Kamalian, head of Greater China at Collab Asia.
The company is also planning to develop partnerships with additional platforms such as DouYu and Zhihu while strengthening existing partnerships with domestic major platforms beyond YouTube, such as bilibili, Xigua video, Weibo, iQiyi, Netease and Tencent Video, hoping to connect creators with the right platforms and audiences for greater monetisation.
“Increasing local presence in China represents a crucial part of our business strategy as this allows us to launch cross-territory inbound or outbound content localisation and syndication across China and overseas platforms, in or out of China and the rest of Asia to increase monetisation. This will help our clients and partners capture key opportunities in Asia’s rapidly growing markets, and further enhance our operational agility to expand across the country," said Eugene Choi, CEO and co-founder of Collab Asia.|
Collab Asia is one of the international MCNs in China helping top Chinese creators to protect, distribute and monetise their content on overseas platforms such as YouTube. Local creators partnering with Collab Asia include Ms. Yeah, MoYun, and Bao Jiansao. Collab Asia is now leading the way in bringing top digital creators and influencers into China with notable examples including PattyCake Productions, Fly By Midnight and Jabbawockeez.
The company will also expand content syndication services to more traditional media groups such as TV producers and film companies, while also looking at approaches to assist Chinese brands and products to reach overseas customers via influencer marketing or branded content.
As of 2020, Collab Asia managed 4,000 video channels and social media accounts with 270 million loyal subscribers across leading platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. In China, the company is currently partnering with over 100 Chinese creators to share their stories with people across the world, and is also working with over 120 foreign creators to syndicate their content on China’s leading platforms such as Xigua and bilibili.
