Details have emerged about Cathay Pacific’s plans for the upcoming improvements to its business and first-class customer experiences. In May, Cathay unveiled a new tagline and business plan, showcasing a refreshed brand image and in-flight offerings. The management also mentioned that in Q3 the carrier will roll out a new business class experience and improve in-flight entertainment content. South China Morning Post has now reported what those upgrades will be.The Post’s report states that Cathay Pacific will offer extra comfort for its long-haul business class travellers from October onwards. The newspaper quoted a source familiar with the matter, saying business class passengers will receive a thin mattress topper pad and slippers to accompany the existing duvet and pillow provided.First class passengers will also get access to new products including a thicker version of their own mattress pad, as well as an upgrade on the existing topper used. New amenity kits are also being launched soon.Additionally, in Q3 Cathay will reportedly revamp its in-flight entertainment system. After the revamp, the carrier will boast the biggest range of content among all Asian airlines. To further enhance in-flight entertainment, Cathay will be moving from HD screens to 4K quality over the next few years as a new benchmark for in-flight television.Though these new offerings could cost a hefty sum for the airline, it’s rumoured that business class passengers could be paying less to enjoy these new perks, as travellers are currently more price sensitive and the carrier may have to adapt.Last week, Skytrax announced its annual World Airline Awards, in which Cathay finished fourth in the main category, up two places from its placement last year.
